VD - Anti PentaThis is a base from our arranged war with Valar Dohaeris. The first attack on this base was a Penta. There were a few problems with the attack, mainly being that the attacker didn't kill the AQ who goes to town on the loons towards the end of the raid. What's more impressive is the loon pathing in this base. If you look at the AD's in the base, there isn't an AD island per-say. There's nothing obvious to give you the idea that your loons might have problems with this base when they are so OP. Look at the picture and see if you can spot it. Here's the first attack on the base. The placement of the defenses are such that the loons path around that one AD. They go from mortar to WT to xbow and up north instead of east to the AD. The hounds just sit there soaking up damage and no loons come to the rescue. Now maybe the attack would have worked if the AQ was dead but either way, not something I'd leave up to chance. If you want to attack this base with loons, you need to deal with that AD. In my skitch, you can see the loon pathing that I drew out. Loons could probably path from the WT at 6, to cannon, to AD but that's a pretty long hike. The defender could also put a Tesla by the builder's hut to pull the loons back towards 3 instead of the isolated AD. Instead of trying to figure out new pathing, I just zap quaked the AD and did the same plan but with Suicide Heroes. I also mess up on my deployment with trying to drop hastes and poisons for the CC that I miss my loons at 10 but they are so OP that I have extra at the end and still triple the base. When designing an anti-laloon base, setting up the loon pathing is just as important as AD placement. You want to create rings so that the loons circle key defenses giving your defenses time to shoot down the loons. The defender cleverly disguised the pathing here leading to a failed fresh hit and did the job. Consider incorporating similar concepts into your base to produce the same effects.

Red Rhinos - Stoned HoboThis base is from our Arranged War against Red Rhinos - a clan from The Kingdom family of Clash Tutor fame. I did a clean up attack where the first attack was essentially a golaloon. The first thing I notice about the base is that there is no tesla farm. This is the first weakness as there is one less objective I need to worry about. I don't need to use my KS to get it or worry about bringing a heal for it. Second thing I notice is the compartment layout. These two compartments run almost the length of the base and around it are all key defenses. If an attacker can get bowlers into these compartments, they will gut the base and hogs can take care of the rest. If your base has a weakness like this, you definitely need to protect it. You should at the very least, have one compartment that separates this from the outside if not two. Unfortunately, the defender didn't see this or know about it. In the west, the base has a U. An attacker could drop a single jump between the two archer towers, AD, and sweeper and get access to these core compartments. This attack angle relies on a big push to get the AQ and you hope she doesn't jump into that dead zone which would prevent the attacker's BK from killing her quickly. I chose to attack it from the north instead. If I could wall breaker into the Queen compartment, it's an easy jump into the core, avoiding the TH compartment and wreck the base. The defender realizes this and tries to make a wb entry into the AQ compartment difficult by having offset compartments with the cannon on the left and the AT and mortar on the right. This would cause the wb to target these compartments first. Here's my skitch for my attack. I use a golem shield on the mortar by the DE storage and do a mini Queen walk to the north. She takes out the mortar and AT. Then I can use wall breakers to open the Queen compartment. The rest is just funneling and backend hogs. Possible ImprovementsI would create a tesla farm. The single teslas aren't doing much. The south by the King is a good place or even by the mortar and AT in the west. Second, I would use a few walls to enclose that AT and cover up that U. The base is wide at the top with the AT and gold storage at the north and the DE storage and cannon at the east. You could take some of these segments, or remove one of the compartments to help reinforce that queen compartment so the core isn't so accessible.
